Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH has agreed on a strategic cooperation with Jonas & Redmann - a specialist in automation solutions of battery cells and modules - to create automation systems.

During gear shaping of double helical gears, the exact positioning of both gears in relation to each other is often very work-intensive. Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH has taken up this challenge and is expanding its technology portfolio for the production of double helical gears.

The Kempten Tech-Center of Liebherr Automation Systems provides a space for trials on high-quality automation solutions. The current focus is on vision-based robotics, bin picking, and processes in battery pack assembly for e-mobility.

The Chinese Haoneng Group, a leading manufacturer in the field of vehicle transmission synchronization, is operating four WGT series inspection machines from Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH.

– No such thing as can't

Whether it's a standard product or a major project, Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH offers solutions for the automation of machining centers of any size. The focus is always on the benefit to the customer – whether it's starting out in automation, working with a large, complex system or a special solution.

New drive technologies in electric mobility are changing the requirements for gears and therefore also for of the quality of the tooth flank surfaces. Manufacturers of gears have to adapt their manufacturing process accordingly.

Plug connections for electrical contacting of modules in the battery pack offer several advantages. However, until now it was only possible to assemble them manually – an obstacle for large batch sizes.

Chamfering gears prevents the edges of the teeth from becoming brittle during heat treatment and reduces transportation and installation damage. Multiple processes can be chosen for this.

“Bin picking” is among the most difficult disciplines in automation. Adjusting the parameters for reliable recognition and gripping of complex objects is demanding and requires expertise.
