Yeast or cross-flow filters are special filters used in the food and beverage industry to remove unwanted solids or sediment from liquids such as wine, beer, juice or milk.
This type of filter is often referred to as "tangential flow filtration" because the liquid is pumped under pressure through a semi-permeable membrane that retains the solids while the liquid passes through. Unlike conventional filters where the liquid flows directly through the filter media, in cross-flow filters the liquid flows tangentially to the filter membrane, creating a cross-flow that keeps sediment away from the membrane and makes the filtration process more effective.
Yeast or cross-flow filters are often used in the food and beverage industry to achieve higher filtration quality and efficiency while maintaining the taste and quality of the final product.
