Single column presses belong to hydraulic presses and are a special type of presses mainly used for forming, punching, cutting or bending materials such as metal or plastic. As the name implies, single column presses have only one column that supports the whole structure of the machine and one moving platen that processes the material. The hydraulic drive is used to push the platen down to form or machine the material. Single-column presses come in a variety of sizes and capacities, depending on the requirements of the application. Most single-column presses have automatic controls to regulate speed and pressure, and some also have programmable controls that allow production of more complex parts. Single-column presses have several advantages over other types of presses. For example, they are typically compact and space-saving, making them ideal for smaller shops or production facilities. They are also easy to operate and require little maintenance. They are also typically less expensive than larger presses and can be used for a variety of applications.
